Located in Glen Ellyn, this large stone and concrete arch bridge crosses the East Branch DuPage River.
Originally built in 1905 as a two span double track stone arch, the bridge was extended to the north in 1924 to add two more tracks.
Since the 1924 construction, the bridge is largely unchanged, other than some slight repairs. This style bridge was commonly used by the Chicago & North Western to cross large creeks and small rivers, due to the durability of the design.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in good condition, with no significant deterioration noted.
The author has ranked the bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
